Batman: Arkham Unhinged Vol 1 & 2

Batman_Arkham_Unhinged_Vol_1_1Pick up Volumes 1 and 2 of “Batman: Arkham Unhinged” and thought it worth a look. These are based on the game storyline for Arkham City (which I have yet to move onto yet) and involves all of Arkham being annexed into one giant penitentiary.

The artwork in this series is pretty good and some of the stories are better than others. I especially liked the Killer Croc origins story as I was unfamiliar with his story-line.

One thing I found tired was the interplay between Catwoman, Ivy and Harley. They (predictably) ended up at each other’s throats once a bloke (Batman) got involved and the writer could have been a bit more innovative.

51Z1UnRA0UL._SY344_BO1,204,203,200_Throughout the series is a vendetta between Penguin and Joker which looked as though it could get quite interesting.

I may pick up any future volumes at the library but I’m not going to knock myself out with them for the moment.

Batman: Arkham Asylum- Botanical Gardens

Right, so I’ve just got to the bit where Harley has run off and you’re trying to find her in the botanical gardens. Firstly just getting there is a real pain as the place is crawling with those maniacs who jump on your back and make that horrible growling/gnashing noise.

Once I got there you walk into a room with 5 or 6 armed thugs. Now if you try and take them on directly you last about 5 seconds and die in a hail of lead. I really liked this part as it’s classic Batman- you have to use glide kicks, silent takedowns or inverted takedowns to immobilize your enemy one by one. It took quite a few attempts but I managed to take them all down. I especially liked hanging below the gargoyles then grabbing away unsuspecting thugs from below…

Batman: Arkham Asylum- Quarter of the way through

So, I’ve been working my way slowly through the Batman:Arkham series for PC and I know Asylum came out aeons ago but I’m a bit behind the times when it comes to gaming! So far I’ve made it around a quarter of the way through and am thoroughly enjoying it! The gameplay is fantastic but easy enough you can pick it up without learning a huge number of buttons. However, when you get more adept it has enough options to make it interesting. I especially love the combat…plus you have to really take care if the bad guys are armed; you can’t just walk up and expect to kick their arses!

Apparently I’ve unlocked 13/47 and am 28% of the way through. Below shows my progress with the Waynetech gadgets (I’ve finally just got the lock breaking tool), the Riddler challenges and the biography collection.
