Movie Review- Alien: Resurrection (1997)

(Warning! Spoilers below)

alienresurrection_0.previewAlthough Alien3 left me feeling just slightly underwhelmed, I had enjoyed the original trilogy so when I planned to watch the final film in the series I was nervous that it wouldn’t live up to the first three films. Unfortunately, my nervousness was justified.

The concept started off well with the idea that Ripley had been cloned to bring her back but the way the film was delivered was laughable compared to the tension of the previous films. The scene when the aliens run amok and the death scene of the General was comically bad. The acting seemed wooden and some of the behaviours of the characters just didn’t make sense. The chestburster being used to kill one of the antagonists was the final straw for me.

This could have gone somewhere but I was left very disappointed and wondered what Sigourney Weaver must have been thinking? Even the screenwriter, Joss Whedon, was allegedly unhappy with the final product.
